Ghost Gardens and Lost Landscapes
A geocaching tour created by Erin McLeary
Intrepid adventurers of the urban persuasion can discover forgotten landmarks of Philadelphia using a smart phone. Historian Erin McLeary has created a geocaching treasure hunt that challenges explorers to find “caches” (small waterproof boxes) hidden where lost, vanished, or forgotten Philadelphia gardens, landscapes, and animals used to be. Each cache contains directions on how to access an audio “label” and images that show the lost landscape using a smart phone. Most sites are within walking distance from the APS Museum.
Erin McLeary is an exhibit developer at the National Constitution Center.
